Not every serious Utah crash is bumper-to-bumper traffic on I-15. Many of the worst wrecks happen on rural highways, outside city limits, or in a single vehicle that leaves the roadway and rolls. Families are then left with a crash report that says “single-vehicle,” an insurance adjuster who wants to close the file, and injuries that do not match the idea of a “simple” accident.
Nuttall Brown & Coutts represents people hurt in rural Utah and rollover crashes. Free consultation. You pay no attorney fee unless we recover for you. Call 801-255-2102.
About rural and rollover crashes
A single-vehicle or rollover report does not, by itself, establish every cause of a crash. An investigation may need to consider other vehicles, the roadway, vehicle components, and witness accounts. Preserve the vehicle and scene evidence when possible. Whether there is a viable claim depends on the facts.
What we do
- We pull the crash report and follow up with UHP or the county agency that investigated.
- We review liability options honestly — sometimes there is a claim worth pursuing; sometimes there is no viable third-party claim. We will say so.
- We preserve scene and vehicle evidence — resting position, rollover path, roadway edge, weather, debris, and witness names — before it disappears.
- We identify other possible responsible parties when the first narrative says “single-vehicle,” including hit-and-run, commercial vehicles, roadway conditions, and product issues.
- We deal with the insurers so “single-vehicle, no claim” is not accepted as the end of the analysis without a real look at the facts.
- We build the medical and liability proof when a Utah injury claim is viable.
What you can do now
- Photograph the scene if it is safe — resting position, rollover path, roadway edge, weather, animals, and any debris.
- Note the crash report number and which agency investigated.
- Do not scrap or permanently repair the vehicle until someone has considered whether a product or commercial-vehicle inspection is needed.
- Write down everyone who stopped, even briefly — rural witnesses disappear. Do not give a recorded statement before talking with a lawyer.
- Call us at 801-255-2102 before accepting “single-vehicle, no claim” as the final answer.
FAQ
I rolled my own truck. Is there any case?
Sometimes yes — another vehicle, a product defect, a roadway condition, or a missing third vehicle can still
matter. Sometimes there is no viable third-party claim. A consultation is how we sort that out with your facts.
Why does “outside city limits” matter?
It often tells you who investigated, how long EMS took to arrive, and what kind of evidence still exists. It also
reminds everyone that serious Utah crashes are not all urban intersection cases.
What if the report says I fell asleep or hit an animal?
Those statements are a starting point. They do not automatically decide whether another driver, a commercial vehicle, a roadway hazard, or a product issue contributed. The full investigation should not stop at the first sentence of the narrative.
Do you handle cases far from Salt Lake County?
Yes, when the facts support a Utah injury claim. Rural and rollover wrecks often require scene work away from
the Wasatch Front. We handle Utah cases only.
